Chaplains’ Office

“The Chaplain, as a faith presence, committed to the values of Christ, and on behalf of the church and school communities, accompanies each person on the journey through life.”

— The Chaplain: A Faith Presence in the School Community.

Our school chaplain is Ms. Stephenie Curtis.  She is responsible for the spiritual welfare of the school community and is instrumental in the pastoral care of our students.  There are eight main areas of activity in our school chaplaincy model:

  1. Encounter with the person of Jesus
  2. Personal philosophy of life
  3. Prayer
  4. Worship
  5. Social outreach
  6. Leadership
  7. Involvement in the life of the Church
  8. Pastoral care

Pastoral care underpins all the other aspects of a chaplain’s responsibilities.  It is of the utmost importance and is something that is shared by all staff and in particular with the wider team of pastoral care staff within the school.  All students are encouraged to meet with their chaplain where they will be supported in speaking about themselves and how their life is going at that moment.  Students will reflect upon their own self-image and how they relate to others.  Students are welcome to discuss any issue which may be causing them difficulty and the chaplain will support that student and accompany them through that journey.  This may involve further discussions with parents or other members of the pastoral care team.  The chaplain can offer guidance, support, spiritual direction, bereavement support, and a listening ear for any social or personal issue.

The Chaplain’s Office

If this is not a place where tears are understood

Where do I go to cry?

If this is not a place where my spirit can take wing?

Where do I go to fly?

If this is not a place where my questions can be asked

Where do I go to seek?

If this is not a place where my feelings can be heard

Where do I go to speak?

If this is not a place where you’ll accept me as I am

Where can I go to be?

If this is not a place where I can try to learn and grow

Where can I just be me?
