The Board of Management of Loreto College, St. Stephen’s Green recognizes its obligation to provide pupils with the highest possible standard of care in order to promote their well being and protect them from any potential harm. The Board has ratified the adoption in full, of the Child Protection Guidelines for Post-Primary Schools (2004) issued by the Department of Education and Science. These Guidelines form the school policy for dealing with all child protection issues in conjunction with the 1999 publication Children First: National Guidelines for the Protection of Children published by the Department of Health and Children. It has also ratified and adopted the Guidelines for the Protection of Students in Loreto Schools (2005).
These Guidelines will inform the school’s response in the very important areas of neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse and sexual abuse of children. The Board of Management has appointed Ms Tríona Barrett, Principal as the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) and Ms Mary McAteer, Deputy Principal as the Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DDLP).
