Sr. Orla Treacy – International Women of Courage Award 2019

Congratulations to Sr. Orla Treacy on being nominated for the International Women of Courage Award 2019.  This award was established by the US Department of State in 2007 to honour women who are making a substantial difference in the lives of women across the world.  Nominated by US Embassies and NGOs, the candidates are selected by the State Department for their courageous and selfless efforts advocating for human rights, women’s equality and social progress, often in the face of great personal risk.Sr. Orla received this award on 7th March in Washington DC.  She was accompanied to the Awards ceremony by her father and brother and also by Anne Mary Murphy who dedicated a number of years to life in Rumbek.  Sr. Orla sees this award as belonging to the Mission. We hope it was a very happy event for all and look forward to hearing all about it later.

As always we pray for the continued safety and success of this Mission for the young people of South Sudan. We also rejoice with Sr. Orla that the situation there is receiving international recognition.
