Book Club for 1st and 2nd Years

The Book Club met on 21 January and the following 4 books were selected for reading before the next meeting:

I am David   by Anne Holm
Written in 1963, tells the story of a young boy who, with the help of a prison guard, escapes from a concentration camp in an unnamed Eastern European country and flees to Denmark.  He is utterly alone – who can he trust ? (Voted one of the best children’s books of the 20th century in the Keith Barker Millennium Awards.)
Paper Towns   by John Green
Quentin Jacobson has always loved Margo from afar.  So when she climbs through his window to summon him on an all-night road trip of revenge, he cannot help but follow.  But next morning, Q turns up at school and Margo doesn’t.  She has left clues like a trail of breadcrumbs for Q to follow.
After Tomorrow   by Gillian Cross
In this new Britain families either go hungry or live in fear of armed raiders carrying off what food they have.  What if you woke up tomorrow and everything had changed?  Money is worthless.  Your friends are gone.  Armed robbers roam the streets.  No one is safe.  For Matt and his little brother Taco that nightmare is a reality.
