Mary Ward Week 22nd - 26th January 2018

Mary Ward Week 22nd - 26th January 2018

Mary Ward Week
22nd-26th of January 2018

The sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as Loreto have as their founder Mary Ward.  In a male dominated society and church, she believed that women in time to come would do much.  She established foundations in six European countries but what she desired at the time was considered ‘outrageous’ and her houses were suppressed.
While Mary Ward died with few followers, she did inspire these to remain loyal to the church.  Her spirituality is centred on Jesus and in the Gospel values.  She attempted to initiate an apostolic way of life and active ministry based on the spirituality and constitutions of St. Ignatius.  From the 22nd to the 26th of January we are celebrating Mary Ward Week.

Mary Ward Prayer
Lord, you helped Mary Ward
To find her way.
You always gave her the strength
To do the right thing.
We ask you to now guide us
Along our way.
And give us the strength
To be who we want to be.
May all the saints of Heaven
Guide us on our way
And send your angels to
Protect us day by day.
Amen.

December House Event - Talent Show

The 19th December was a day to remember as the 2017 Talent Show took place. With entertaining acts from every class group, there was great house spirit and talent shown by all involved.
After tough deliberation by the judges the results were announced with 2T coming in third place winning 20 house points, 5G in second place getting 30 house points and 3M coming out on top overall with 50 house points. It was a great event for the school community to come together just before the holiday break and thoroughly enjoyed by both students and staff.

Loreto Swimming Gala 2017

Loreto Swimming Gala 2017

The Loreto Swimming Gala took place on Thursday the 24th of November in The National Aquatic Centre in Blanchardstown. Our team comprised of students from 1st to 6th year and our team of Transition Year supporters.
There were three age groups; u14, u16 and u18 and in each age group there were four events; freestyle, back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as two freestyle relays. Everyone swam very well and four girls qualified for the finals of their strokes. The supporters were very enthusiastic and chanted throughout everyone's races.
Overall it was a very enjoyable day. Everyone swam to the best of their ability and we had a great team spirit. We would like to thank Ms. Hoffman and Ms Crinion for accompanying us on the day of the gala.
We look forward to the annual Loreto Swimming Gala next year and hopefully we will win the Spirit Award!!
