Some 400 parents, staff, friends and past pupils (from aged 80 to 18), packed the huge Sports Hall on Thursday last, the 27th March, in aid of The Blue Ribbon Monster Quiz in memory of Elaine Moran. As our good humoured and eloquent MC for the night, Bryan Dobson declared it was “The biggest Quiz he has ever seen”- truly a Monster Quiz.
It really was a remarkable evening – with palpable sense of good will, combined with challenging questions, numerous spot prizes, and a wonderful raffle. Margaret Rogers of Heart Children Ireland, who will manage the fund, opened the proceedings with a brief outline of the work of HCI and the aims of The Blue Ribbon Fund.
The fourth year students did a fantastic job of decorating the Blue Ribbon themed hall and the inimitable Maria Beatty and her dedicated team did an incredible job pulling together so much sponsorship and donations that every single cent donated went straight into The Blue Ribbon Fund. Our sponsors and friends showed such generosity that every item, from the balloons, to the tickets, programmes and refreshments etc, were all donated free of charge !
And the result? An amazing €30,804.06 to date !
We sincerely hope that this will be of some small consolation to the Moran family and will help the Blue Ribbon Fund to provide meaningful support to families.
Thank you one and all and Well Done ! We are blessed to have such a supportive community in Loreto.
