Congratulations to the French debating team who won a very enjoyable debate on Wednesday, 27 November against Loreto Bray. The team comprised Ellen Kelly (Captain and Best Speaker), Jessica Fitzpatrick, Anna Rose Fullen and Aoife Gunning.

The second annual Geography Awareness Week took place in Ireland last week 18th -22nd November 2013. The girls in Loreto joined in the international awareness campaign where the theme was ‘An Exploration of Water’. A photo competition was held and many entries were submitted with the theme of water. Winners were selected from the Junior and Senior categories and congratulations go to Alice O’Hagan in 6th Year whose photo was captioned ‘Beauty on our Doorstep’ and to Virginia Tozer in 1st Year whose photo was entitled ‘Fishing and Flushing’. A ‘Mega-Map’ was displayed on the corridor to create awareness and thanks go to all the girls who helped in the decoration and display of the map.

Tickets for Carols by Candlelight can be reserved from Monday 2nd December. Students should indicate the required number of tickets they would like to reserve by writing 1 or 2 beside their name on the sheets on the Music Noticeboard outside Room 202. There is a maximum of two tickets per family.
There is no charge for tickets this year. Once you have reserved your tickets your place is reserved. We will be fundraising at the concert for the Capuchin Day Centre who provide meals for the Homeless.
A letter will be sent to all members of Ceiliúr and Orchestras regarding rehearsals. This letter must be returned at appropriate rehearsals next week.

This Halloween the 1st Year students had the opportunity to make a scary vampire lollipop. The 5th Year Art Co-ordinators demonstrated how to turn a lollipop into a Vampire with the help of some googly eyes and red paper. All were agreed that the finished products look equally scary and delicious!

The annual Art Exhibition in Loreto College St. Stephen’s Green was held on October 2nd.
There was work on display from 1st year students through to 6th year students. The Leaving Cert class of 2013 also displayed their exam work. The highlight of the exhibition for many was the Junior Certificate projects from the current 4th year students. An array of beautiful work was displayed with themes ranging from Fashion through the Ages, Broadway, The Circus, Surfing & Seafood.
A big thank you to the 4th and 5th year students for setting up the exhibition.
